 JUPITER TRANSIT AQUARIUS - 2009

Jupiter enters Aquarius on January 5, 2009 and stays in that sign till January 19, 2010 for a year long stay in this friendly sign. Aquarius is noted for its interest in scientific knowledge and truth. The expansive nature of Jupiter in this sign of humanitarian instincts should make it easier to establish a new approach to social and economic realities. Look for some break through developments in science, especially if they deal with space or higher science. The natural interest in social issues should also instigate some new understanding of religious and social values and how they can distort reality. He is joined by Mars in February which stimulates activity and he will conjunct Neptune May through July which increase imagination, spirituality and sensitivity. Below are interpretations for each sign.

Jupiter’s transit is interpreted in the houses. I will start with the sign Aquarius as the first house or Ascendant.  If you know your chart adjust for the proper interpretation.

(Aquarius) Jupiter is transiting the first house of your chart. This time period presents opportunities for personal expression and expansion. Learning who you are as a person and how others are effected by your actions and energy. Move outward with a new sense of confidence and adventure. Business or social areas awaken so take advantage of the good that comes your way. Do not overindulge or be too selfish. Growth comes when you are willing to share your good fortune. Travel and adventure spice up your life and you can expand your mind through the study of philosophy or spirituality. Diet; get plenty of exercise; and control egotism. Don’t be a know it all.

(Pisces) Jupiter is transiting your twelfth house. This is your house and Jupiter is thought of as a ruler of this sign. Therefore good can be experienced on the level of spirituality and inner dimensions. Develop an interest in psychology, the psychic and your spiritual being. Develop your compassion toward self and others. Take time to think deeply about your life. What have you learned? Study Natural Law especially the Law of Karma, "as you sow, so you reap." You Astrology. quiet time, prayer, meditation, occult studies and yoga can change your life. A powerful spiritual teacher may appear to guide you. (Aries) Jupiter is transiting your eleventh house. Opportunities may come through groups, organizations and social contacts. Use power or prestige to help the social context in a positive manner. Like minded people may join you in projects that transcend the little ego. Don unto others as you would have them do unto you should be the law of your life. If you live this way you will realize some important personal humanitarian ideals. Kindness given will lead to kindness received and the potential to realize hopes, wishes and dreams. (Taurus) Jupiter is transiting your tenth house. This is the house of career and social opportunity. Your need for advancement leads to new career or social positions. Ambition is heightened and you can approach those in power. You may have to respect established cultural and social roles because you want to be a part of them. There is an attraction to educational institutions, government, foreign trade, law, publishing and teaching. Accept new responsibilities quickly, work hard to prove yourself fro they pave the way for a brighter future. Your reputation is built by cooperation with others and your ability to be responsible. Self esteem, confidence and production increase and so may your salary. Do not be arrogant or you could loose all. Travel for business as you get the green light in career and social situations.

(Gemini). Jupiter is transiting your ninth house. This is the house ruled by Jupiter. You should have an exciting and interesting time. Many benefits can come your way as you reach to expand your life and understanding. You can get a new view of life as you travel to different places, either with the mind or body. New ideas, religious thought systems, philosophies and abstract thought, or ideals become attractive or compelling. If you ever want to start your masters, or any higher degree. This is the year to do it. Since understanding is so important in this house, you may want to study the work of Socrates and Plato, especially Plato’s Republic and Apology. The benefit here would be an understanding of Socratic wisdom. You may also to understand that the world has not changed that much in thousands of years. You may find that there is a real opportunity to remove personal limitations that have been based on inner fears. (Virgo) Jupiter is transiting your sixth house. Here the opportunities come from hard work, fulfilling obligations, and by self improvement of all kinds. Freedom may be lost as responsibility becomes intense. The payoff come if you keep on the grindstone and do your best. You may even be amply rewarded. Look for self satisfaction, a bonus, promotion or a deep sense of personal achievement. On the job conditions can ease or your relationships with bosses and co-workers improve. (Libra) Jupiter is transiting your fifth house. This can be a fun time. New experiences can improve your ability to express yourself. You may feel alive and vibrant. You can be very direct with other people telling them all your ideas and romantic fantasies. It is a good time to write or do creative work. It is a good time to take a romantic journey with a compelling stranger. Just maintain some common sense. You can broaden your understanding of life by studying religion or philosophy or you might even teach in a local community college. Become involved with children and you will understand the saying, "in order to enter the kingdom of heaven, you must be as a child." Jupiter can be too expensive in this area, so do not be foolish when it comes to love or money and beware overindulgence.

(Scorpio) Jupiter is transiting your fourth house. This is a perfect time to enrich your inner being by pursuing your deep self. Home, family and personal emotional foundations are ruled by this house, and thankfully Jupiter is accidentally dignified in this house. So the opportunities that are presented to you deal with personal security and a sense of emotional foundation. You might like to establish her roots, developed a sense of belonging or buy an improve property. Your family should come first at this time even though they may be more responsibilities that conflict from your work or career. Your healing and psychic abilities can improve, so listen to your intuition or gut feelings. This is truly a time to deepen your personal values and your love of intimacy.

(Sagittarius) Jupiter is transiting your third house. The opportunity that is presented to you, deals with broadening your intellectual ability. (Capricorn) Jupiter is transiting your second house. This time can lead to many opportunities for expansion on the material level or the personal sphere of your life. But here is the question you must ask of your self, "what is your real sense of values?" Are your ideas important or are your possessions important? Do you use your resources wisely? Do you get what you really want or more than you need? This is a good time for business and your personal resources can grow. You may find others are more generous to you. Banking, the law, sports, higher education, foreign business, religion, and travel are all possible places to make money. Invest with wisdom and be a conservative. Remember this question, "Do you own your possessions or do they own you?" Good management can lead to freedom and less worry.

The gods must be angry!        FEBRUARY 2009

The following is the most important long term aspect that is effecting not only the world, but each of our individual charts.

All other aspects must be seen through this influence.  It colors the background of our energy.

Just look at the world. We're in a hell of a mess. War is waging, banks are failing and nobody knows if the stock market will stay up or go down. Both political parties are calling for change and it sure seems necessary for our very survival. Could the gods have anything to with this? Are they angry? To find out, we'll have to take a little trip to the past. Most ancient peoples tried to capture the mystery of the natural world by personifying the powers of nature they could not control or understand. The most colorful, were personified by the ancient Greeks and inherited by the Romans. They gave us a Parthenon of Gods including: Zeus/Jupiter, King of the Gods, Cronos/Saturn, the god of time, limitation and karma, Uranus the god of chaos and willfulness, Poseidon/Neptune the god of the vast oceans and Hades/Pluto, the god of the underworld and mineral wealth. Could these gods have anything to with failing banks and plunging markets?

You're going to think it's a stretch to understand their pertinence to the mess we're in, so I'm going to ask you to use the power of your imagination (Neptune). The imagination is vast compared to the normal mind. Let's put a different face on these gods by describing their symbolic powers in the world. Zeus being the great sky god represents expansion and wealth. Saturn, represents accepted tradition, structure, the past, bureaucracy and fear. Uranus, the god of chaos represents sudden and unexpected change, willfulness and the future. Neptune, the god of water and liquids (oil) represents spirituality, illusion and fraud (religion is the opiate of the masses), and Pluto, the god of the underworld represents death, resurrection and great wealth (Plutocrats). How did they get these powers? Over the centuries, they were attributed to the planets by myths, philosophers, seers and astrologers. .

Before you dismiss the rest of this article, I suggest you heed the old axiom, "as above so below." Astrology is a powerful symbolic language that can give insight into our present dilemma and a prescription for how to cure it. The powers of the planets and their cycles were based upon observations by many people over many years. And just as we can see the cycles of nature: spring, summer, fall and winter, there are other natural cycles at work that can influence the expansion, contraction and utter chaos that we are now experiencing in our world. You can see it by looking at the past. We are experiencing a repeat of patterns that have happened before. I will offer the following descriptions in two distinct categories:

Powers of the Planets = the players and the playing field = the Signs. Two of the most influential Powers currently playing out a recurring pattern are the planets Saturn and Uranus. They are in opposition (conflict) and represent the struggle between the fear of leaving the past (Saturn) and the uneasiness associated with moving to the future (Uranus). The Jedi Master Yoda said, "The future is difficult to see - too much emotion with the future."

What is most compelling is that the opposition between these two planets is exact November 4, 2008 and in February 2009. There will actually be a repetition of this aspect over the next year.  And so the battle we are witnessing is between the forces of the past (status-quo, Saturn) and the promise or uncertainty of the future (chaos, Uranus). Somehow, both political parties have gravitated to the elixir, "change," which captures this energy well. But is there an easy transition to come? The last time these planets were in opposition was in 1965. That was a time of change and revolution but I would not describe the experience as easy.

Looking back at that time, Saturn was in the Astrological sign Pisces, which represents spirituality, compassion, large institutions, the masses and on the negative side fraud and dissolution. Pisces also represents healing on the mass level through large institutions. Uranus was in Virgo which represents work, health, employment, the common man and on the negative side destructive worry. Virgo also represents healing on the personal level by implementing common sense habits. The upheaval our social structure (Saturn) experienced in the 1960s brought a new awareness (Uranus) of what life could be. Uranus played the part of the instigator of new trends and a hope for a more humanitarian tomorrow.

The opposition occurring now is in the same signs Virgo and Pisces (the playing field) but the players Saturn and Uranus have switched places. Saturn is in Virgo, and Uranus is in Pisces. Since the most disruptive player is Uranus we will first examine his meanings in this cycle. Pisces, the last sign is being affected by Uranus. It represents the culmination of all experience or what is referred to as the global experience, the one world. This is the idea of a world without borders, a global economy and democracy for all. Although this is a compassionate idea, when we look at the history of the world, it seems to be an illusory hope at best. Contrasted with the global idea is the suffering of the common man, unemployment, inflation and loss of value – the working man and woman represented by Saturn in Virgo.

So here is how the game needs to play out. The forces of the past (Saturn), want to continue things in the same pattern, protecting the status quo (current bureaucratic structure). The forces leading to the future (Uranus) see the need to destroy the structures of the past so that creative energies can lead to new growth. Uranus is attacking the bureaucratic structure that has failed while Saturn is trying to protect the bureaucracy by sowing seeds of fear. There is an interesting balance that needs to be found if the social and business structure as we know it is to survive in some recognizable and stable form.

In every good story there is a twist that intrigues you and leaves you wanting more. In this story, that twist is the planet Pluto. But wasn’t he demoted by the astronomers? Yes, but it was at his own bidding. You see Pluto/Hades is the god of the underworld. When he goes into the game, he wears the Helmet of Invisibility. He likes to act behind the scenes or undercover. So what secret moves does the god of death and resurrection hold for us? Only the future knows for sure. Stick around, keep your eyes wide open, for you are living in interesting times.

Jupiter and Pluto Direct - September 2008

The planet Jupiter has been going retrograde since May 8, 2008. This is usually a time of review especially in business and with other socially expansive plans. He goes direct at 12 degrees 32 minutes Capricorn on September 8, 2008. He also makes a few beneficial aspects to other planets which will be helpful. So you can look for some good news and it is time to put plans into action. The planet Pluto also goes direct which is a positive influence for change. However, Pluto works on a more subtle level so even though you might not feel the difference, it still should support forward motion. He is wrapping up his transit of Sagittarius and will soon be in Capricorn for a long stay.

Since Jupiter is in the sign Capricorn, we will use that sign on the first house or the Ascendant.

Capricorn, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your first astrology house. This is a place that represents the expression of your personality into the world. It should increase your self-confidence and support your optimism. Since Capricorn is interested in the business of the world and the structure of society, this may help you get ahead. So be willing to take the opportunities that knock on your door or go knocking to find some. It would be a shame to waste this wonderful time that will last till the end of the year.

Aquarius, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your twelfth astrology house. It may be a good time to fade into the background for a while so that you can restore your inner energy. This is the place of deepening and development on a spiritual and psychic level before things are expressed to the outward world. What do you want to get out of your system so that you can be more efficient as you move through the world. What issues are deep in your soul that you would like to express to others? Plan but do not act yet.

Pisces, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your 11th astrology house. This represents that the opportunities that come to you they come through your friends or through professional associations. If you have ever wanted to get involved with politics, this is a good time to find a group of people with the same philosophy as you have who take action in the world. There may be a tendency to believe everything that you hear, so be careful to weigh the issues in a practical and judicious manner.

Aries, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your tenth astrology house. This is a favorable house for the planet Jupiter. The 10th represents social and career success. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and opportunity. This is an excellent time to put your plans into motion and to get them approved by higher-ups. What you need to be careful of is your approach. You may bite off more than you can chew, you could be a little pushy and you must not step on the toes of authority figures. With this in mind, go ahead.

Taurus, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your ninth astrology house. This is the house that Jupiter rules so you should have opportunities to expand your mind and understanding. This may mean that you sign up for a class in philosophy or religion or that you’re planning a trip to a far-off destination. Anything that brings you into contact with things that are at a distance in physical or intellectual terms can have great benefits. You might even meet someone from a foreign country or when you’re on a trip.

Gemini, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your eighth astrology house. This can be a very good time for business dealings or you might even gain some type of inheritance. This house represents the power and energy we share with other beings. It is also the house of renewal, so you may develop new attitudes concerning business and sharing resources. Here is a nice thought, it is also the house of sensuality, so you may find that you have an opportunity to be in a relationship that has great rewards.

Cancer, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your seventh astrology house. This area of the chart deals with relationships that you have with other people. This can be on a personal or professional level. So the opportunities that come your way may come through other people or through dealings with the general public. This is a good time to step outside of your shell and take some chances. Your ability to interact with others will improve because your understanding of their needs has improved. Leo, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your sixth astrology house. This might not be the happiest house for a Jupiter transit but it still represents opportunity and expansion. The type of opportunity that will come to you will deal with fulfilling obligations, taking on more responsibility at work or improving your health. Now these things are not bad, but they can represent a need for more efficiency, more discipline or an improved work ethic. Don’t fight it, for if you develop new habits now, they will support you for some time to come.

Virgo, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your fifth astrology house. Your sign is not thought of as one of the more expressive of the zodiac, in fact there is usually a sense of shyness or timidity. You can change now if you will open yourself up to a sense of adventure which involves expressing yourself in a more dramatic and outgoing fashion. This is not to say that you will become a drama queen overnight but you may be able to attract some very nice experience especially in the area of romance.

Libra, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your fourth astrology house. You are generally a social being Libra and you like to be with other people. But the fourth house deals with deep emotional issues, so if you would like to be social invite people to your house. This is also a good time to be looking for a new home or to make improvements to your current home. If your space has been cramped, it will also cramp your style. This is not a happy idea so cleanup, clean out and get ready for some new adventures in your own backyard.

Scorpio, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your third astrology house. You already have a penetrating mind Scorpio and you are noted for getting to the bottom of any issue. That’s why people would be wise not to try to pull the wool over your eyes. But now a different vibration calls for your attention. This is the time to expand your understanding and knowledge. This is the time to get out into the world or at least into your neighborhood so you can make contact with others. By sharing ideas, you can share happiness.

Sagittarius, the transit of Jupiter occurs in your second astrology house. This is a good omen for business and financial success if you control and discipline your spending. Mars conjunct Saturn – In a sense one could say that this is an aspect of antagonists. Mars is an impulsive and aggressive force that does not like restriction. Saturn on the other hand, does not respect impulse and acts more out of tradition and fear. Saturn is a binding force that loves regulation, bureaucracy and structure, it respects the status quo. Mars does not like to be hemmed in and can challenge traditional structure through individual action. Mars rules action and desire, Saturn responsibility. In its broadest sense this aspect can imply warring factions that do not want to understand one another.

Here is what this aspect can mean for you and how you can use it.

Virgo – The Mars Saturn conjunction occurs in your first house of personality projection. You can gain great insight into the workings of your personality at this time. Do you come on too strong or are you too timid? You will find out by the way others react to your action or inaction. Focus on personal adjustment.

Libra – The Mars Saturn conjunction occurs in your twelfth house of limitation and hidden agendas. Step back and gather yourself. This is a time for spiritual understanding and meditation. You must recognize how you have set up failures in your past and the conditions you are unconsciously setting up for the future. Focus on clarity.

Scorpio – The Mars Saturn conjunction occurs in your eleventh house of group associations and dreams. Reaching out to others must be done with a purpose beyond your ego needs. This is not a slam but just a comment on the intellectual approach you take to life. Now you must not take the needs of others or yourself for granted. Make peace not war. Focus on power.

Pisces– The Mars Saturn conjunction occurs in your seventh house of relationships and legal issues. Saturn can speak with the voice of authority while Mars wants to act like a teenager. Take your time in partnership issues for your actions can have great impact or lead to frustration. Focus on equality.

Aries – The Mars Saturn conjunction occurs in your sixth house of work, service and health. This can be an important time for you since Mars is your ruling planet. Take the time to look at how you do things. If you feel frustrated at work, find out why. If you need a better diet, discipline yourself now. You can finish important projects. Focus on work.

Taurus – The Mars Saturn conjunction occurs in your fifth house of romance and creativity. It’s nice to feel loved. Everyone wants to feel wanted and that can cause some problems. Leo – The Mars Saturn conjunction occurs in your second house of personal resources and possessions. This is not a good time to gamble or sell yourself short. Take inventory of what you have and how it can be used. You must be productive and efficient and you can make money from honest effort. Focus on money.

Mercury Direct - June 18, 2008

Mercury has been retrograde since May 26, 2008. Symbolically, Mercury represents the ability to learn, gather information, analyze, think, understand and communicate. It also has an influence on business, electronics, travel and general planning. The term retrograde means that Mercury appears to be going backward. It is not, but it appears to be losing ground in relation to the Earth. Mercury will go direct on June 19, 2008 and any difficulties involved in the above mentioned areas will begin to straighten out. This retrograde phase of Mercury occurred in the sign Gemini, the sign Mercury rules. So some disruptions in normal daily activity must be expected. When Mercury goes direct at 12 degrees 59 minutes Gemini on the June 19th and for a few days after, there could be some clearing work to do. Some possibilities for each sign are delineated below.

Gemini - Mercury has been retrograde in Gemini in the first house of your chart. You must concentrate on how you are thinking and expressing yourself to others. Part of this might be a need to control the amount of movement, thinking and talking that you are doing. It is never good to worry but at this time it can be very destructive. Let the past be in the past

Taurus - Mercury has been retrograde in the second house of your chart. You must ask yourself, "do you have something of great value that others need"? You might miss some of the details if you do not study careful. What you must look for is depth of knowledge without being dogmatic in your expression. Sometimes when you follow your impulses, you are wrong. Develop patience.

Pisces - Mercury has been retrograde in the fourth house of your chart. It is good to be sensitive to other peoples ideas and needs, but do not allow them to confuse you.
